I ordered a pair of Bear Grylls Craghopper survival pants about a month ago, and have put them to the test. I have to say, I really like the looks of these pants, and wearing them, I just get the urge to go run and jump around and do Bearsy things. These pants are very comfortable and the stretch panels are awesome, however, there are some downsides to these pants. First, these are survival pants, yet if you get anything too hot around them, they melt. If you are around say, a campfire, embers that pop will melt right through them. The other issue I have is the quality of craftsmanship. These things feel like the cheapest pair of pants ever. The pockets feel like they could tear if you put anything remotely sharp in there (keys), and the hip zipper pocket’s zipper broke the first time I used it.

Bottom line

If you want a pair of comfortable, light-weight pants, or even just want to be like Bear….get these. If you want a pair of long-lasting “survival” pants….look elsewhere.

By the way, I guess they are closing out the line, because they have most of the line on sale for 50-70% off.

Cold weather is upon us and with the temp droping below freezing, the chances of ice are going up, so are the chances of getting stranded on the side of the road. Be prepared for the cold by keeping a blanket(preferably wool) in the car. I also recommend keeping an extra coat along with a hat and gloves. These are in addition to things you should already have, like a flashlight, road flares, etc. You never know what might happen, and while unlikely, you may be stuck somewhere for a long time before anyone can help you. Remember…”Failure to prepare is preparing to fail!”
